Sticker Shock
According to SAMHSA, individuals who had their first drink before the age of 15 were 7X more likely to experience alcohol problems later in life. Therefore, prevention of underage use of alcohol is a main priority of the coalitions in Atlantic County.
The Sticker Shock Campaign is an awareness project that involves placing stickers (shown below) on alcohol packages that have the message “Keep It Legal,” reminding purchasers of alcoholic products that it is illegal to provide alcohol to individuals under the age of 21. This campaign is designed to raise public awareness of the laws associated with providing alcohol to minors and to reduce/eliminate access of alcohol to minors, particularly during high-use times, such as holidays and proms.
